Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) has the capability to test and engineer the full range of shipboard systems and equipment from full scale propulsion systems to digital controls and electric power systems. To help maintain a focus on test safety, NSWCPD instituted the Mission Readiness Panel (MRP) in 1983. The MRP is a rigorous in-house review to ensure that NSWCPD personnel have taken all the necessary steps to minimize the risk of personnel injury or equipment failure, and that the tests conducted support the sponsor’s test requirements. NSWCPD is comprised of six complexes which contain over one hundred labs and test facilities. Training topics include: an overview of the MRP; the MRP Binder Package and the required documentation; the requirements of the final review process; and annual self-assessments.
