    Hiring talent is one of the most important responsibilities that a supervisor will perform. This course provides supervisors with information about types of hiring, regulations, and processes to hire the right people with the right competencies. Topics covered include:The Merit System and Prohibited Personnel Practices; Hiring Authorities and Flexibilities; and The DON Hiring Process.

  • Quality Basics and Customer Care

    This interactive course provides the basic framework of the NSWC IHD Quality Management System expectations required by ISO 9001:2015 standards. It walks through the concept and philosophy of process-driven quality and technical rigor, and presents the Command’s approach to customer excellence.

  • Safety in the Acquisition Process

    This course discusses Safety in Contracting and Safety During Contract Performance. Some examples of Common Safety Hazards are provided.

  • Supervisor Safety for Administrative Sector

    Supervisory training will include safety performance measurement (in terms of mishap and hazard prevention and individual employee and supervisor performance), hazard identification and analysis, enforcement of standards, mishap investigation, the use and maintenance of personal protective equipment, and hazardous material.

  • Supervisor Safety Refresher for Administrative Sector

    Supervisory training will include safety performance measurement (in terms of mishap and hazard prevention and individual employee and supervisor performance), hazard identification and analysis, enforcement of standards, mishap investigation, the use and maintenance of personal protective equipment, and hazardous material.

  • Tier 1 Shipboard Training (Surface Ship Only)

    This training provides an awareness of the surface shipboard environment and potential hazards. This Tier 1 shipboard training is applicable to surface ships only.

  • Tier 1 Shipboard Training (Submarine Only)

    Upon completion of this training, you will be qualified for Tier 1 Submarine Shipboard work per Naval Undersea Warfare Center Headquarters/Naval Surface Warfare Center Headquarters (or NUWCHQ/NSWCHQ) Instruction 4790.1 (series).
