This training course provides an introduction to the Cyber Vulnerability Assessment Tool (or CVAST). CVAST is developed by the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division under funding from NAVSEA 03C. Its patent-pending Intellectual Property is fully owned by the United States Navy, and it is free to use for any Navy program. This course will provide: an overview of what CVAST is and why the project was initiated; an overview of CVAST data sources and data flow follows, along with example outputs and use cases for CVAST; the relationship between CVAST and Model-Based Systems Engineering is explained; examples of the automated reasoning that can be performed using CVAST; an overview of where CVAST can be accessed, and at what security classifications; an overview of the process for requesting CVAST access; and instructions for launching CVAST for the first time.
