This course will provide you with a better understanding of the policy and procedures used for budgeting, establishment, funding, reconciliation, audit, and reporting of Transportation Account Codes (TACs). TACs are used in the shipping and transportation process to link movement authority, funding approval, and accounting data for shipments of cargo and personal property in the Defense Transportation System (DTS). Topics include the governing instructions used by NAVSEA Directorates, Program Offices, and NAVSEA Echelon III and below commands engaged in the preparation of transportation movement documents, the validation of transportation bills, and the preparation of transportation budgets. We will discuss the procedures to be followed during TAC operations and the roles and responsibilities of those offices involved with transportation of material.
