The objective of this course is to familiarize the print reader on how to interpret Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs). The goal is to have an AIT Manager effectively review the Test and Inspection Plan (Section 6) of the QA Workbook and develop the appropriate AIT Surveillance Plan for the alteration. It also enables an OSIC to effectively perform surveillances, particularly the “Adherence to Requirements” surveillance, which is required for all installs. These are AMQAP required functions applicable to all alterations by TS9090-310. Topics include: Size of Drawing – Grid Layout; Title Block – Drawing Identification; General Notes and Other Guidance; Material List and Other Information Lists; Work Location – Key Plan and Elevation View; Work Specifics – Section Drawings and Detail Drawings; Structural Drawing Characteristics; Welding Symbol Details; Piping Drawing Characteristics; Electrical Drawing Characteristics; and Modifying SIDs – Liaison Action Record (LAR) Process.
